End Of Green

A tenth album about to come out, and on their site only its title.

End Of Green is a German gothic rock band from the Stuttgart region, born in a cellar in 1992. Ashes & Gold, their tenth studio album, comes out on Reaper on 4 December 2026.

In short
What we saw
Their tenth album was due in December and their site had only its title: no date, no pre-order, no 2027 tour.
What we changed
A dark rehearsal room where a lamp follows your finger: the album with its pre-order, the dates on the flight case, and their own sentence painted on the backcloth.
Status
Independent study. The band chose to stay with their own landing page; nothing will launch.

What we noticed

Their new site from August already looked like them: dark, the chains, the wordmark. But the album appeared only as a name — no date, no pre-order, nothing to listen to — there were two shows, and the 2027 tour could only be found on their agency's site.

The archive held something no other band has: in their news posts from 2010 to 2012 they signed off to their fans under at least thirteen different names.

The lamp drops to an instrument and the name of the member who plays it appears: Michelle Darkness

Why it mattered

Whoever hears the single lands on their site, almost always on a phone, and in those weeks that site is the door to the album. Their genre lives on being moved, and the sites of the five comparable bands we reviewed all use the same catalogue template. They had something better: a cellar, a sentence of their own — «music that doesn't touch is a waste of time» — and thirty-four years of humour.

What changed

It was built beside their site, not against it: a dark rehearsal room where a lamp follows your finger, the light and shadow computed live on the phone. The cellar is a generated image, not their real room. Their sentence is painted large on the black cloth behind the drums.

Ashes & Gold leans against the mic stand, with pre-order and tracklist; every album with its real cover on the shelf, and every date on the flight case, each with its own ticket link. Each member at his instrument, with a line from their old site, and each section signed with one of their old names. «Lights on» switches on the strip light and the page reads normally.

What became possible

It keeps itself current: past dates drop out, and from 4 December the album reads as released. It's a study, not a commission: the band looked at it carefully and chose to stay with their own landing page, so nothing will launch.

A cellar, a sentence and thirty-four years of humour.

An independent design study, published with the band's permission; the cellar is a generated image, not their rehearsal room.
